Holidays & Pets Don't Always Mix
Tis the season to start decorating the house for the Christmas, this is a joyous time for people however it can be a dangerous time for our pets. Check out this article "Pet Perils during the Holiday Season" posted by Foster Park Pet Hospital.

Crate Training Your Pets
If you are considering adopting a puppy or an adult dog and you want to know the benefits of crate training and/ or how to crate train your new family addition then check out these useful tips posted by The Quinte Humane Society.

Pet Pawsitive is a proud believer in crate training dogs, especially when you have a puppy.

Recommended Crates:
"Life Stages" - they are medal crates that come with the dividers so your puppy will grow with the crate and you only have to purchase it once, it has the removable bottom tray for easy cleaning and your pet complete visibility of the surroundings which is key so your pet doesn't feel isolated from everything. Also they can't chew it. For more information on these crates go to www.midwesthomes4pets.com.

Benefits of Crate Training:
- keeps them safe from chewing the house apart
- is an essential tool when house training, most dogs won't eliminate in thier own bed( make sure to use the divider that comes with the crate, only allow enough room for the puppy to lie down & turn around inside the crate)
- gives your puppy a place to call his own

Do's
- always appraise your puppy for going in the crate whether it's by positive attention or treats
- always keep the crate door open when your puppy is out & about this way if they ever feel scared or threatened they can retreat to their crate on their own

Don'ts
- Never force your puppy in the crate, either encourage them in by putting treats in the crate or their favourite toy.
- Never use the crate as a discipline tool, the puppy should never be told "Bad Dog" then put in the crate, by doing this you would be creating a negative experience for the puppy and they will associate that feeling with their crate.

Litterbox Training Your Kitten
Believe it or not but kittens do not come already litterbox trained, learn what techniques work the best and where the best locations for the litterbox are in your home. This article was posted by The Quinte Humane Society.
